Haddin: Crunch moments costing us

Sydney Sixers captain Brad Haddin believes the side’s top order needs improving if the side is to knock of the Thunder, as the Sixers were downed by the Brisbane Heat by 6-runs on Sunday.

The Heat were helped by half-centuries from both both Joe Burns and Lendl Simmons as the Brisbane side got off to a flyer.

It wasn’t until some timely death bowling that the Sixers restricted the side to 162, a score Haddin felt his side were more than capable of reaching.

“I think it was our senior playing group at the top of the order, we needed to get more runs,” Haddin said.

“We had two internationals at the top leading the side who need to do the bulk of the batting with our players out tonight and we probably fell short with that.

“We did get a start (but) we needed to take the game a lot deeper than we did and we didn’t so they were better than us tonight.”

Haddin pointed the finger at his side cracking in ‘crunch moments’ and dismissed any talk of injuries costing the side.

“I put it down to we’re not winning those big crunch moments what we’ve been known for. The other teams win in those big moments that Sixers have been known for,” he said.

“Injuries aren’t an excuse we had enough good players to get the job done.”
