What: NRL Round 11
Who: Cronulla Sharks v South Sydney Rabbitohs
When: Monday May 26 – 7pm
Where: Remondis Stadium
I Can Watch It On: FOX
Things you need to know:
The Sharks have been hit hard by injury and Origin with five prominent players missing. Anthony Tupou (knee), Todd Carney (hamstring), Beau Ryan (neck), Luke Lewis and Paul Gallen (both NSW) are all out. Daniel Holdsworth replaces Carney and Blake Ayshford comes in for Ryan. Tiniau Arona, Tupou Sopoaga, David Fifita and Michael Lichaa also come into the Sharks’ line-up. The Rabbitohs are without Maroons reps Greg Inglis, Ben Te’o and Chris McQueen. Experienced trio Nathan Merritt, Joel Reddy and Ben Lowe come in.
Reason To Watch:
It will be interesting to see how both sides respond to the exodus of players that have left holes in their forward pack. With the Sharks struggling this year, this could their opportunity to get back on track against an Inglis-free Rabbitohs side.
Reason To Turn Away:
Monday Night footy rarely attracts a big crowd and the fact that eight big name players have been omitted won’t do the match any favours.
Say What:
“You can’t dress it up any better than that…we need to do better.” Sharks coach Peter Sharp following last week’s hard-fought loss to the Tigers.
Final Word:
The Sharks’ struggles have been well documented and the Rabbitohs look far too strong. The Bunnies’ replacements have proved themselves in the top grade and will fit in comfortably. Rabbitohs by 12.
